Each Wednesday, The Citizen features someone in the food services industry from the Finger Lakes community in The Banks: This week, we spotlight Quizno's store developer Chris Darienzo.
Q. What is the one food you cannot live without? Why?
A. Prime rib cheesesteak. It's the best sandwich on our menu.
Q. Fill in the blank. People would be surprised to know that even though I work in the food industry, when I am at home in the kitchen, I __________.
A. Enjoy cooking Italian dinners.
Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes?
A. Our customers are very friendly, and the staff is very easy to train; they were great.
Q. If you were given $1 million to open your own restaurant or bar, describe the bar or restaurant and what type of food you would serve.
A. I'd definitely open up a club that serves $1 chicken kabobs. It's the best food to have after a couple of drinks.
Q. Where would it be located?
A. Probably on the island of Bali.
Q. On the day of your club's grand opening, if you could select anyone in the world to be your first three guests, who would they be?
A. Dave Chappelle - I know he'd bring a big crowd - then Derek Jeter and Jessica Alba.
Q. What is your favorite junk food?
A. Our chocolate chip cookies.
Q. What have you learned are the top three ways to run a successful food business?
A. Being fast, clean and friendly.
Q. If you weren't working in the food business, what would you like to be doing?
A. I'd like to be doing real estate.
Q. Ughh. What's the one food which you absolutely can't stomach? Why?
A. Eel. Just the texture of it ... the chewy side of it.
