Tasty fundraiser held for CSCAA
The Holiday Inn will host “Taste for Community Action” from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Inn, 75 North St., Auburn. The event will feature food and drink from 17 local restaurants, 18 different wineries and three microbreweries. Door prizes will be given as well.

Recipes needed for local cookbook

The Skaneateles Festival Cookbook will compile recipes from fans of the

28-year-old festival for release in November.

Recipes can be submitted through Wednesday, Aug. 15, at www.skanfest.org by clicking “Festival Cookbook.” Anyone interested in submitting a recipe can also call 685-7418, e-mail music@skanfest.org or pick up a recipe form at the festival held in Skaneateles Aug. 8 through 11.

Barbecue to benefit Make-A-Wish

Stone Well Bodies and Equipment, Inc. will sponsor a fundraiser chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at its facility, 625 Sill Road, Genoa. In addition to serving chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks, the event will feature an antique and classic truck show from the American Truck Historical Society.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York.

St. Ann's Church to host barbecue

St. Ann's Church will host a chicken barbecue and bazaar from 11 a.m. until supplies are gone Sunday, July 22, at the church, in Owasco. Chicken will be served with salt potatoes, baked beans, rolls, drinks and desserts.

The event will also feature children's games, prizes from local merchants and drawings for $1,000, $500 and $100.

Film crew looking for chicken wings

A documentary film crew is coming to Cayuga County in search of the world's best Buffalo wing. Before they arrive, they would like tips on what area bars and restaurants make the best chicken wings. Send tips to: organizers@chickenwinghunt.com.

The world's first wing-eating tour begins in Manhattan Aug. 18 and ends in Buffalo Sunday, Sept. 2. The crew plans to arrive in the Finger Lakes area approximately one week into the journey. An exact date will be set as August draws near.

Garlic festival to be held in August

Fox Run Vineyards will hold its 15th annual Garlic Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5, at the vineyards, 670 State Route 14, Penn Yan. This free event is one of the largest garlic festivals in New York.

Visitors may stock up on fresh garlic bulbs, food products infused with garlic, as well as a number of other local and regional specialties.
