PORT BYRON - Village Justice JoAnn Bell dismissed second-degree harassment charges Thursday night against former Mentz bookkeeper Lucy Wilck during a 10-minute trial at the Village Hall. Bell ruled there was “no probable cause” for arresting Wilck on harassment charges stemming from a Mentz town board meeting on June 18, 1996. Before ruling, Bell watched a videotape of a portion of the town meeting that showed former town Supervisor William Jones and Harold Leiger, but not Wilck, attempting to physically remove Mentz resident Concetta “Connie” Vincent from the meeting room. “Based on the evidence that's presented here, I think I'm going to grant the motion to dismiss,” Bell said. Wilck's lawyer, Salvatore Piemonte, said the videotape proved his client was innocent of the charges.
