Make A Wish event is today at ballpark
Sugarman Law Firm will host the first of four Make A Wish Wednesday events at the Auburn Doubledays game today at Falcon Park.

The events will include fundraising promotions aimed at raising enough money to grant a wish to a child from Cayuga County.

The first pitch will be thrown by Johnathon M., age 8, from Cayuga County. His wish is to swim with the dophins.

Johnathon has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Before the game, he will have the opportunity to meet with the Doubledays, play some catch, get autogrpahs and attend the game as Sugarman Law Firm's guest.

The evening will include the sale of numbered tennis balls that fans can throw through hula hoops on the field for prizes from the Doubledays. Each game will include participation by Wish Kids.

The maining Make A Wish Wednesday are scheduled for Aug. 1, Aug. 8 and Aug. 29.

Union Springs to host football camp

The 10th annual Union Springs Football Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 7-10 at Union Springs High School.

The cost is $60 and is open to any Union Springs or Southern Cayuga football player in grades four to 12.

Deadline for registration is July 31 and late registration costs $70.

Tickets available for Sportsmen's dinner

The Cayuga County Sportsmen's Club is offering tickets to the annual Sportsmen's Dinner and Raffle on Sept. 14 at the Springside Inn.

Tickets are $100 and the grand prize is $3000.

Great Race practice is every Wednesday

Canoe and kayak practice for the annual Great Race are taking place at 6 p.m. every Wednesday at the sailboat launch in Emerson Park.

Both the long and short courses are offered, and experienced people will be there to give advice and tips.

Pop Warner holding physicals this week

Pop Warner Football will be holding physicals from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 19 and 26, at Dr. Marc Pietropaoli's office in Skaneateles.

Softball camp to begin July 23

Auburn High School will host the annual Auburn Softball Camp in two different sessions.

The first will run from July 23 to July 26 and is for girls entering grades 6 through 9 this fall.

The second will run from July 30 through Aug. 2 and is for girls entering grades 2 through 5 this fall.

Each day goes from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost to register is $40, and there is a $5 discount for each additional sibling that signs up.

Bob Lee, coach of Auburn High School's varsity softball team, will run the camp.
