Auburn fast pitch softball remains undefeated

The Auburn Xtreme 18 and under fast pitch softball team remained undefeated as they defeated Phoenix 8-2 and valley 8-3 in Syracuse Fast pitch League action this week.
Lauren Fedyshyn and Amanda Daum led the offense against Phoenix as they contributed two hits and two RBIs apiece. Shannon McCormick, Kelly Grinnell and Brianne Raftis (double) each added one hit and an RBI. Nikki Neagle also hit safely. Winning pitcher Brittney Babcock threw a four-hitter and struck out eight.

Sarah Green had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs to lead Xtreme over Valley. Fedyshyn added two hits (double) and two RBIs, while Grinnell (RBI), Stefanie Spinney, Sara Doan (RBI), McCormick, Raftis (RBI) and Sarah Wild added one hit apiece.

Babcock scattered seven hits and fanned eight as the Xtreme improved to 5-0 on the season.

The Xtreme 14 and under team also remained undefeated as they beat the Eastwood Bears twice, 9-6 and 8-3.

In the opener, Auburn rallied from a five-run deficit to win with Christina Hyrynk leading the way with a clutch two-run single. Lasheena Love, Ali Van Giesen, Erin Iaia (RBI) and Jenna Hensel (RBI) all chipped in with a hit.

Brittney Lawler, Shannon Haff and Liz Westburgh all had an RBI and Erin Gordon and Haff were the winning pitchers.

Meg Feocco, Iaia, Haff (RBI) and Hyrynk all hit safely to pace the offense in the second game. Jessica Van Giesen and Hensel added an RBI each.

Feocco and Ali Van Giesen were the winning pitchers as the Xtreme improved to 3-0-1.

The Xtreme 16 and under split their double header losing 8-5 to Central Square but defeating the Blue Reign 12-4. Jamie Bruno, Katie Lupo, Sam Bruno, Jen Van Arsdale and Sarah Reese had the only hits against Central Square.

Bruno had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs in the win over Blue Reign. Lupo added two hits (double), while Liz Daniels, Sam Bruno (RBI), Brittany Cunningham (RBI), Brianne Moshaty (RBI) Van Arsdale and Mollie Pinker all had one hit.

Bruno got the win after scattering just six hits.
