The Cayuga Community College Alumni Association has awarded three of the colleges' graduates with the annual Alumni Awards.
Roberta C. Bellnier, of Moravia, was one such recipient. Bellnier was employed as a principal stenographer at the college while earning a degree in liberal arts.
She graduated Cayuga Community College in 1989, and continued working at the college until her retirement in 1995.
Bellnier has been active in alumni affairs in the years following her retirement, co-editing the alumni newsletter and serving on or chairing various alumni committees.
Since 1998 she has served on the Alumni Association board of directors and is currently the board's secretary.
James J. Vivenzio, of Auburn, earned a degree from the community college in 1972 in business administration, and another in 1989 in electrical technology.
He also holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Empire State College and a master's in library science from Syracuse.
He has been employed with the community college since 1979, and currently serves as coordinator of electronic media services, overseeing equipment, services and training for instructional technology for faculty and students as well as sound and telephone systems for the campuses at Auburn and Fulton.
The third recipient, Edward F. “Ted” Herrling, of Auburn, earned a degree from the college in 1972 in liberal arts, and continued his education at SUNY College at Brockport, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in human services.
Herrling served as Cayuga County Employment and Training Department director since its inception in 1979. In 2003 he was instrumental in the launching of the Cayuga Works and Career Center, a multi-agency workforce development office based at the college.
