Skaneateles seniors receive scholarships
Three Skaneateles graduating seniors are heading to college in the fall with some extra cash in their pockets.
Joe Pratt, Meghan Hares and Amanda Clark were each awarded scholarships from the Skaneateles Central School Class of 1958 based upon attendance at a two- or four-year college, their contribution to the school and community, how they feel the district enriched their lives, financial need and their plans on contributing to the community following their college graduations.
Pratt, who will attend SUNY Brockport, received a $1,000 scholarship. Hares, attending Onondaga Community College, and Clark, attending Elon University in North Carolina, both received $500 scholarships.
The Skaneateles Class of 1958 is the first and only class to have awarded scholarships, which are funded by classmates living across the country.
The committee reads, ranks and awards the scholarships.
