The left is so hypocritical -- the dopey Clintons pardoned everybody in sight if they'd give money to Hillary's campaign or Bill's library and Lynch says not a word. This is the first time Bush just commutes part of a
sentence for one of his supporters.

I believe the mayor and the council should take a drive down Orchard Street. A good deal of those homes are disgraceful; the yards are disgraceful -- take a look.

Why doesn't President Bush attend funerals at Arlington. Maybe he will really get to affect the war.

President Eisenhower did commit us to a land war in Asia when he took over for the French and sent American advisors in there to help the Vietnamese -- and with military advisors he put in special forces who were fighting right along side the Vietnamese, way before John Kennedy committed forces to combat.

Veterans, let's all be one and get Memorial Park a reality here in Auburn.

" Are you proposing mandatory drinking of 2 drinks? The flat tax should work as well for you as it has for Malcolm Forbes. He has never been elected to anything. There is no local tax that can be put on a flat tax system. Unless you are proposing a local income tax. "

" What tax are you going to flatten? Sales tax is based on a % of purchase. Are you going to charge $5 for every purchase no matter what the size? Buy a car pay $5 sales tax or a tube of toothpaste and pay $5 sales tax? Or charge $1,000 for property tax on a 1.5 million home or the same for a delapidated shack for the same amount. There is no local tax that can a flat tax so think your plans over because they don't work. Leave the politics to those who know what they are doing. "

" Bush commutation of part of Scooter's penalties is much worse than when Clinton pardoned Mark Rich. While its possible that Clinton pardoned Rich because of his wife's contributions to the Democratic Party and the Clinton Library the pardon doesn't halt the search for justice. Scooter Libby has no reason to point fingers at the real criminals after the commutation of his prison time and an opportunity to receive a full pardon dangling in front of him. Bush gave Libby a break to protect other criminals. "

" You're absolutely correct Ben. Well said. Why is it that the rethuglicans have back-pedaled on "Executive Privelege" now that it's Bush's turn. It wasn't OK for Clinton, (and this was over a personal issue between consenting adults), but it's OK for Bush when it involves politicizing the AG's, and acts of treason - crimes that are actually serious. The hypocrisy makes me want to puke. "

" The right is so hypocritical. When Clinton pardoned Mark Rich, they were up in arms and called it an abuse of power. When dopey Bush commuted part of Scooter's scentence, they called it a just adjustment of a harsh scentence. You're right. The left can't have it both ways, but neither can the right. After all, Clinton was impeached for lying under oath. Isn't that the same crime Scooter was convicted of? "

" The houses on Orchard street our a mess. We have the city that is worried about there image with public drunkeness. But could care less on some of the neighborhood's that our in this city. If they are so worried about Auburn's image try fixing up the neighborhood's and stop worrying about Music in the mall.. "

" I read many complaints here on 2 cents, so I though of: What would do if I were mayor, so here is my list 1. Have a flat tax in Auburn. There is no reason some people are paying most of the taxes and other are paying very little or none. 2. Increase fines for litterbugs---to 250.00 even cigarettes are littering. Will help keep out city clean. 3. Bind all elected official to their promises within 2 year of their election. This way they cannot make promises they can’t keep. If the promises are not fulfilled within the 2 years they will be removed. 4. Remove Insurance for ALL part time employees OR make them pay for it 5. Increase the police force by 3 officials per shift, and increase fines for traffic violation to include a 100.00 city surcharge. Install cameras at problem intersections to record violations. 6. Any person who has been arrested for violent crimes 3 times or more will be required to relocate outside the city. The people of auburn do not need criminals living here. People then can live in peace and walk around without the worry of crime. 7. Every Friday night have a concert downtown, with a 2 drink maximum. In bad weather the Owasso lake area would have a concert building built. 8. Increase DWI fines to a flat 15,000, and have a FREE city service that would drive you home anywhere in the city for no charge. This is just a start--- "

" Can we stop going back and forth on who was to blame for sending out troops to Vietnam. You sound like a bunch of old geezers who will never agree on something. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? "
