Improve neighborhoods with vegetation, not fences

Monday, July 16, 2007 10:59 AM EDT

I want to introduce a new concept in neighborhood solidarity which should be considered for the new housing tracts.
Firstly, we must disregard the use of fences to designate the perimeter of properties.

They indicate some hidden impulses.

Sadly, due to the technical “advantages” of communication, families are confined within the house and ignore the surroundings.

To make property ownership a complete living experience, I suggest that with neighborhood cooperation the property boundaries be outlined with various dwarf fruit trees, lines of raspberry and blueberry bushes, two varieties of grapes and others.

Understand that a neighborhood is a moral concept.

" I'm with you Karl. I guess those fruity trees will keep my neighbors' Rottweilers in their yard too. "

" Hidden impulses... like wanting privacy? With some of the neighbors I have, I wish I could build my fence 10 feet higher! "
