Auburn needs what our administrators can't produce: skilled labor and businesses that hire more than three people. Sprint? Another Quiznos? Nowonder our young are leaving Auburn.
We can't get people to run for office. we lost Social Security, the baby unit at the hospital, the roads are in terrible shape, we lost Human rights, and now the Tomato Fest.

It's all well that vets are acknowledged for their community services, etc. What about us that have served also and can't get help; where are jobs and affordable housing for us?

Ah, summertime in the Finger Lakes - simply superb.

We don't need a casino downstate, we need a casino here for jobs. A vote against a casino here, is a vote against jobs.

I remember years and years ago a representative from the county health department along with a city of Auburn representative would inspect waste disposal system for farm animals. We have had two overflows in Owasco Lake Watershed this year. Why not start the inspection system again check each and every farm that may cause pollution. What more are we going to loose?

No alcohol in the park on July 4th and none available at the pavilion restaurant. Could the Great Race be next?

" The point of being positive is that you have to have vision and try something new and re-invent the wheel. Whenever your leaders try to visualize new ideas they are barraged with criticism. People are trying to rebuild Schine theater and other new theater in downtown will attract people for arts and entertainment. The development of the downtown area and the vision of new housing in the area such as condiminiums and downtown residences is an attraction. Auburnians are waiting for some big manufacturer to open a huge factory with hundreds of good paying jobs. It isn't happening. Many small business must be attracted to the city and yes they will require tax incentives and they will be high tech and the employees will need training or they will hire their employees from Syracuse not Auburn. Auburn will make a comeback and has many attractions. The geography, low cost of living (believe it or not) a cheap source of labor and low property costs will be factors. "

" Why pay $30,000 to host Tomatofest to raise $10,000?? Seems kind of ignorant to me. Looks as if this has run its course. I know what you could do instead. Turn the Harvest of Sound into a fundraiser for the food pantries. That has been going pretty stong for quite a long time, we should ruin that too. "

" It's not the comments, Brew, it's the town itself. For a variety of reasons, the small industry that kept Auburn afloat has left, leaving zippo in Auburn but poverty and a handful of poor-paying jobs. Services are moving out also. You can't damn people for noticing the facts, for not being unrealistic pollyannas. Auburn was once a fair little small industrial town, and you can still spot the traces of those days -- but they are long, long gone -- negative comments are a symptom, not a cause. "

" Constant negative attitudes will seal the fate of Auburn. Nothing positive will ever happen when only negative comments are made. There are people trying to do positive things but all the get are negative comments. "

" Funny thing...I work in downtown Syracuse and on my lunch break I sometimes walk around. The other day I stumbled upon a band playing in Hanover square, people were eating there lunches having a beer and enjoying themselves..I didn't see any problems...We need more things like this in Auburn, not taking them away. Why is Auburn so uptight about alcohol? Give me a break! "

" More and more little ones are being diagnosed with unnecessary diseases. When will parents get informed before letting doctors inject them with toxic vaccines that cause them. "

" Be nice to see the City and County work together for a change and keep things going like Tomato Fest, God knows there is NOTHING in Auburn to attract anyone, especially when Auburn cannot even keep its own population here anymore!! "

" I agree with the person who posted about losing so many things in Auburn. Just wait and see what the new County manager is going to take away from us taxpayers in the future, keep yourselves posted, you will see the huge mess he is creating with YOUR tax money and YOUR County services. Dont be suprised to see County offices suing, and US paying for it all! GET RID OF HIM NOW!!! "
