North Cayuga advances to finals

Colton Dennis hit a three-run home run and Jordan Jefferds added a two-run shot as North Cayuga knocked off Penn Yan 15-3 in the semifinals of the District V 11- and 12-year-old All-Star Little League Tournament in Seneca Falls Friday. North Cayuga will play Geneva for the title today at noon.
Jefferds picked up the victory for North Cayuga while Pat Kelly and Justin Grinnell each went 2-for-2.

Friday's game came just one night after a tight 5-4 victory against Auburn. In Thursday's quarterfinal, Ryan O'Kane earned the win, striking out 10. Jon Kudla went 3-for-4 while Cory Wilkinson had the game-winning hit.

For Auburn, Kyle McNabb and Matt Nolan had two hits apiece.

Fuccillo 4, Stantons 3

Ryan Ringwood (two hits), Trent Valentino, Patt Rizzo, Kyle McNabb, Mike Carberry and Nick Fiermonte led the Fuccillo offense.

Fiermonte and McNabb allowed only two hits and combined for 13 strikeouts.

Rizzo made two nice plays on defense.

RJ Anderson (two strikeouts) and Mike Mitchell (six strikeouts) pitched for Stantons and also had one hits apiece.

Eric Gatewood played well defensively.

KIDS SANDLOT LEAGUE

Byrne Dairy 7, Nucor 6

Cody Fredette tripled and Hannah Jenner scored one run to lead Byrne.

Jenner, CJ Carr and Michael Carbonaro led the defense.

For Nucor, Kaydee Alberry scored twice, Chelsea Youells singled and Cody Smith drove in a run. Smith and Dustin culver led the defense.

AMERICAN LEGION

S-K Post 6, Union Springs 3

Ted Hart threw a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out seven to lead S-K Post.

Matt Wild paced the S-K offense with three hits including a double, while Ryan LaRue drove in three runs with a double.

Zach Frost and Zach Prentice had two hits apiece.

For Union Spring, Nick Prentice had two hits.

S-K Post 7, Cato 4

Mike Assmann and Ryan Gleason combined on a one-hitter with 12 strikeout in the win. S-K Post's Zach Prentice (triple) led the offense with two hits while C.J. Shaw, Dave Shellhammer and Ryan LaRue (double) added two hits apiece.

Paul Navarro had the only hit for Cato while Tim Pierce took the loss.

BOYS AND GIRLS LEAGUE

Leader Chiropracic Cubs 17, Children's Health Specialists Marlins 14

Nicholas Rink and Baylee Kennedy went 3-for-3 while Eric Kennedy went 2-for-2 for the Cubs. Emmett Mack and Alexander Blodgett maded three consecutive outs, Nathan Wawro played well behind the plate.

Briley Lazio and Greg Walsh also played well defensively.

For the Marlins, Kaleb Cook had two doubles and T.J. Reilley had one double.

Emma Tavener led the defense.
