Syracuse ABA team to announce name
The new Syracuse ABA Basketball team will announce its new nickname today at a 12:30 p.m. press conference in Hanover Square.

The team will also announce the signing of three more players.

Auburn schools schedule physicals

Auburn School District has scheduled sports physicals from 8 to 9:30 a.m. from Aug. 6 to 9 at the Auburn High School Health Office. Students can enter the building on the north side of the school. August 6 and 7 are reserved for boys.

Summer school students are welcome to come on August 6 as well. Football players should on the 6th, while all other boys should come on the 7th. August 8 is reserved for girls who play field hockey, cross country and swimming. All other girls should report on the 9th. All students must bring a signed 75D form from their parent or guardian.

The forms can be found on www.auburn.cnyric.org, or can be picked up at the Athletics Office.

Lakeview hosting three-man scramble

Lakeview Golf and Country Club is hosting a 19-hole Par 3 three-man scramble at noon on Sunday, July 15.

It will be a shotgun start and teams must have a combined handicap of 20 or over.

Arts Council selling golf tourney tickets

The Cayuga County Arts Council is selling tickets to a PGA Tour Event to be held at the Turning Stone Resort from Sept. 17 to 23. Prices vary depending on how many days you plan to attend. Sales will benefit the Cayuga County Arts Council and its projects.

Little Leaguers seek tourney donations

Donations are currently being accepted for six Auburn Little League players to help raise money for them to attend the “Field of Dreams” Tournament in Cooperstown. Each player is required to raise $1,050, for a total of $6,300, which covers food, lodging, playing and uniforms. All donations are asked to be sent to: Mark Covich, 82 Mary Street, Auburn NY, 13021. Checks must be made payable to CNY Major League Allstars.

AHS boys lax to host alumni game

The Auburn boys lacrosse program will hold an alumni game at noon Aug. 11 at Auburn High School. All alumni and families are welcome to the both the game and the post-game reception at the Knights of Columbus. Registration forms can be found at www.auburnlax.com under the forms link.

Auburn Hockey Club to host golf tourney

The Auburn Hockey Club is holding a golf tournament that will take place at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Lakeview Golf and Country Club. The cost to register is $180 per team or $45 per person. The deadline to register is July 25.
