AURELIUS - Fingerlakes Crossing developers plan to add a slew of tenants, including Circuit City, before year's end.
Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and Aspen Dental should also factor into a whirlwind of construction at the site off of Routes 5 and 20 near Fingerlakes Mall, Cameron Group Principal Joe Goethe said Wednesday. Circuit City has signed a lease for a 20,000-square-foot store directly across from a strip building of 10 spaces toward the front of the plaza.
“They're hoping to open this fall,” Goethe said. “That's an aggressive schedule, but I think they're capable.”
Building permits are pending for Circuit City and a 6,000-square-foot Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant that would sit next door to Chili's Grill & Bar, which opened in the spring.
“I think it will do well,” Goethe said. “It will play well off of Chili's and give people more food options.”
The Auburn location is part of a larger push Buffalo Wild Wings is making in the upstate New York market that its founders called home. Currently, there are only eight eateries across the state.
“It's a market we didn't want to enter into until we could penetrate it because it is the home of the wings,” said Jeff Miller, regional director of communications for the chain.
The Minneapolis company that specializes in chicken wings and sauces hopes to add as many as 30 locations across Upstate over the next few years. The Fingerlakes Crossing franchise could be open by Dec. 3, Miller said.
Circuit City aims to be open by Black Friday, the big retail day following Thanksgiving, Goethe said.
Meanwhile, Dick's Sporting Goods plans to have its 45,000-square-foot store open by fall. Construction on the plaza's third anchor store earlier this year.
“The town has been great to work with,” Goethe said. “I think they're focused on development and developing these projects the right way.”
Home Depot was the first anchor to open in 2006. Kohl's followed in March 2007. Both locations have exceed expectations, Goethe said.
An Aspen Dental location is in the works along with deals for smaller spaces in the building behind Chili's that already houses Quiznos, Supercuts and Go Wireless.
“I'm excited about bringing all the retailers that we can to the area,” Goethe said. “It proves the town, county and city were smart to approve and back the Bass Pro Shop.”
The town Planning Board has already approved the Circuit City and Buffalo Wild Wings plans. Building permits are ready to be issued, according to the code enforcement office.
No plans have been submitted for Aspen Dental.
