A city court jury returned a verdict in a move to force eviction. Mrs. Frances Kushaney of 9 1/2 Baker Ave. who occupies the dwelling at that address, will not be forced to vacate.

When the clock struck five, the doors at the Cayuga County Board of Elections was locked and the office emptied. While Thursday was the last day for major party candidates to file petitions for the Nov. 4 elections, whether everyone made the filing deadline remains to be seen.

Lisa and Mark Cappello strapped their daughters into their car seats Wednesday morning in Ithaca and took a trek north to spend a day at the beach. But what they found on the shores of Lake Ontario was a bit surprising, considering they were expecting driftwood to be the primary obstacle to their walks near the waves. Four-year-old Elizabeth was a bit distressed over the scene. “I don't like seeing all those dead fish piled everywhere,” she said, balancing her pink and white water shoes on the rocks. “You have to watch where you walk.”
