Two Cents

In my opinion I think Auburn needs another cable system. I'm very disappointed with Time-Warner, the programs with Time Warner are worse than they were with Adelphia.
I'll bet the answer to Murray Lynch's multiple question in Saturday's Two Cents is Iran. I love it.

Why doesn't Mary Jane Picciano settle her issues out of the city council meetings? It has to be on television? I don't think her personal issues belong in the city council meeting. This is really getting sickening.

Maybe Lisa Backus and Carole Estabrook should get together and test Owasco Lake's water for that fecal coliform for its DNA so we can all find out: Are human beings, domesticated animals or wild animals the main culprits?

What a great questionnaire from Murray Lynch. Which country will it be Murray?

Why are city department heads making so much more money than similar posts around the state when obviously they aren't doing as good a job?

The Cayuga County Conservative party is in such disarray that they just got coerced into backing Tom McNabb, one of the most liberal people in the state.

Guess what you conservative and ultra-conservative Republicans? This “liberal Democrat” just received a happy birthday wish from G.W. and Laura Bush, paid for by our tax money.

If the Catholic Church is to survive in the United States, it needs to become independent of the Vatican. This American Catholic Church would allow married priests, women priests and part-time priests, and would do the bidding of God instead of a hierarchy.

It is a tragic thing when after 232 years have passed, the country's judges, lawyers and lawyer politicians are doing the very same things to the people, as England did to the colonists.

The DEC is responsible for the problems in the south end and middle of Owasco Lake. The greedy Cayuga County politicians are responsible for the problems at the north end of the lake.

President Bush should pardon John Chick of all charges. Bush did it for “Scooter,” he should do it for Chick.

Whatever happened to the great time spent with your family while watching the fireworks at the lake? Now you leave there broke and you hope that your children didn't get high or that they don't repeat the swearing that they just heard for the last two hours.

This was my last year, along with many other Owasco residents I talked to, that we will buy the chicken barbecue because of the way it was run this year. The road looked good, but the rest of the whole day was a joke.

Bush said there should be free elections in both the West Bank and Gaza. Since he has been in power, we haven't had free elections.

Murray Lynch shouldn't have to leave the country just to satisfy the Bush lovers. If more people were like Murray Lynch spoke out about how bad government under the Bushies has been maybe Bush and Cheney would not have unable to proceed.

I wish all the anti-native American crybabies, would quit crying in the paper. It gets my paper soggy.

Why have no field days in Owasco? It has been a tradition for over 30 years that I have lived there.

" Owasco didn't have their field days for a couple of reasons I know of for sure... not enough people volunteering their time for the amount of work needed to put into it, and it barely made them any money (that's the whole point, it's a fundraiser for the fire department). That event isn't something that just falls together in a day or two, it takes MONTHS of planning and many man hours of labor. So everyone whining about not getting to go this year, if it's so important to you, where were you when they needed the volunteers to put their time in to help out? You should be ashamed of yourselves. As for the parade, no, it didn't rain, but threatening weather was forecasted, and they made the decision to keep you and your children safe. If they had gone on with the parade, and it started raining and all of you poor souls got wet, you'd still blame OFD for having it when bad weather was threatening. I find some of the comments about this appalling. "

" The city manager is from UTAH???!!!! No wonder he canceled music in the mall. While the mormon's positsion against alcohol is admirable, it shouldn't be forced on Auburn at the expense of the economy and it's citizens leisure activities. "

" My friends and were among the many who showed up for the annual Owasco Day parade. Some in our party came as far away as Rochester. What a dissapointment that they cancelled the parade!!! Bad weather!! Were! When!! It never rained!! It should have been left to the discrepancy of the participance to participate or leave!! What a BAD decision!!! "

" FYI Eastern Right Catholics (Greek Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Ukranian Catholic, etc.) priests can marry, and they are still associated with the Vatican. "

" I have had satellite tv (Dish Network) since February, and I an very happy with what I have. I got a lot more, for less money then Time Warner would have wanted for the same setup. I got a DVR for the first time, and I love it, too!! Also, I got the basic DSL from Verizon, and it works really good, I have no problems with that either!! So, you should consider that option if you're not happy. I'm glad I did. "

" In my opinion, people should stop watching tv all together then we wouldn't have people complaining about the cable company. "

" Perhaps the management at Meadowbrook golf course doesn't realize that there are plenty of courses to spend the day golfing within 5 minutes of them. Not that the 14 dollars spent is a huge issue, but would it have killed them to issue a rain check after completing just 3 holes on Sunday? It makes it really easy to decide which course NOT to patronize. "

" the owasco field day was cut way back this year because they do not have the help. it is the same men and women, year after year , who give up their holiday , to raise some $$$ for the fire dept and create some fun for the community. "

" If you don't like the way the ROMAN Catholic Church is, then leave and go join the Protestant or Episcopal Churches. From what you've written, you'd be happier there. And if the Catholic Church in America split from the Vatican, it wouldn't be a Catholic Church anymore, but a new denomination. "

" The fireworks at Owasco Lake are a joke. We went thinking we'd have a good time and I'm pretty sure we had more fun BEFORE the fireworks started. Put a little effort into the fireworks and maybe more people will pay attention instead of getting high or drunk- which is apparently the only way to actually enjoy that ridiculous display. Go to Harborfest in Oswego at the end of the month for a GREAT display of fireworks- i have yet to see a better display. Auburn was a disappointment yet again. "

" Verizon Fios has to be up and running around here if not pretty close to be anyways. The only thing I wish Time Warner would do is get those infommercials off the bottom tier channels. They seem to run non stop these days. "

" Don't you have satellite TV in your area? Many more channels for less money. Also hasn't Verizon FIOS come your way. It offers phone service, TV and high speed cable in a pricesaving package that is delivered by your phone line. If you don't have it now it will be coming soon. "

" From what I understand - the reason Owasco didn't hold the Field Days this year was because the company that set up the rides went under....??? "
