State police looking into firearms theft
State police are investigating a Weedsport burglary of several firearms.
Between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday, someone took two handguns, a shotgun and a coin collection from a private building on Clinton Road.
State police are requesting any information regarding the theft.
They are asking people to contact them at 255-2766.
Fair Haven man charged with stalking
A Fair Haven man was charged June 2 by the New York State Police in Wolcott with stalking his estranged girlfriend.
Jamie M. Hadcock, 25, of 4872 West Bay Road, was charged with the misdemeanor of fourth-degree stalking.
State police said Hadcock allegedly pestered the woman with harassing phone calls and text messages and watched her through the window of her workplace.
Nozzolio hosting online lake petition
State Sen. Michael Nozzolio's office is gathering petitions to protest a decision by the state Department of Environmental Conservation to allow the village of Groton to increase the amount of phosphorous discharged by its sewage treatment plant into Owasco Lake.
Those wishing to join Nozzolio's opposition to the DEC decision can sign the petition at www.senatornozzolio.com.
Dietitian to speak about cancer
Theresa Shepherd, an oncology dietitian with Hematology/Oncology Associates of Central New York, will speak at a community-wide cancer education program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at The Creamery, 28 Hannum St., Skaneateles.
Shepherd will talk about healthy food options to consider while navigating the common side effects of cancer treatment.
The program is sponsored by weCare, a new Skaneateles cancer support group.

Wineries hosting greyhound event
King Ferry Winery and Long Point Winery are hosting a welcoming gathering as part of the Greyhound Gathering from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, July 27, on the east side of Cayuga Lake.
The Cayuga Wine Trail is celebrating greyhound adoption the weekend of July 27, 28 and 29.
Advance tickets cost $25 plus a handling fee and sales tax. Tickets cost $30 the day of the event plus tax.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Greyhound Adoption Groups in New York and Pennsylvania.
