Music and movie series begins
The Nines start off the City of Auburn's Music and Movie Series. The first concert will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Hoopes Park. Following the musical performance will be the movie “Happily Never After.”

Bring a blanket or chair.

Adirondack Scenic Railroad lists events

The Adirondack Scenic Railroad has scheduled special summer events:

€ Wednesday, the New Loomis Gang Train Robberies will be portrayed on the trains.

€ In Lake Placid every Friday, there will be a Gangster's Shoot-out at 12:45 p.m.

€ Wine tasting trains will run on Thursday and Friday nights.

€ Runs to Buffalo Head Diner will be on Sunday mornings.

Deere show opens in Canandaigua

The New York State Two Cylinder Association Inc., will hold the “World's Largest Antique Two Cylinder John Deere Show” on Thursday through Saturday, July 12 through 14, at the New York Steam Engine Association grounds, Gehan Road, five miles east of Canandaigua, just off Route 20.

Seminars, demonstrations, a craft market, toys and food will be available.

Admission is $5 or $10 for a three-day pass; children under 12 are $3 or $5 for a three-day pass.

Free parking is available, and campers are welcome.

Seymour Library hosts storytime

Seymour Library will host storytime on the lawn at 11 a.m. every Tuesday beginning July 17 and continuing through Aug. 14. Storytime is free and no registration is needed. A Harry Potter scavenger hunt will take place at 1 p.m. that same day, but registration is required by Friday, July 13.

Historic church holds festival

The Historic Mentz Church will hold an old-fashioned hymn singing festival and ice cream waffle social at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14.

The church is located at Mentz Church and McDonald roads in Montezuma.

The event is non-denominational and will feature the Wilted Llilies Choir and homemade waffles made by Paul and Bunny Baker.

The public is invited.

Seniors plan trip to Lake George

The Boyle Center is planning a three-day, two-night trip to the Georgian Resort on Lake George. Four meals, a steamboat cruise on Lake George, Georgian Hotel Dinner Theater, a visit to the National Museum of Racing and the Saratoga Gaming and Raceway are included.

Cost is $329 a person. Reservations must be made by July 31 by calling Maggie at 253-6178.

Lodi winery wins best taste award

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars, Lodi, was awarded the “Best Wine Taste” for its overall wine selections at the “Medley of Tastes,” held recently at the Houghton House on the Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva.
