The city manager did not say he didn't want any music in downtown Auburn, he just said he didn't want a bunch of people with too much to drink, walking around on the streets. I and I'm sure a lot of other citizens agree with him.
Hey, Murray Lynch if you think it is so bad to live under this government, why don't you go live in the government of the radical terrorists and the radical Muslims? You might be happier there.

I'd like to know when Perrine Street is going to be paved. It is the worst street to drive over in the city.

Many thanks to the people on the lower end of Silver Avenue for the fantastic display of fireworks. It took me back -- way back!

Actually, there's only one “Voice of Truth” and that's the one the band Casting Crowns sings about in their 2003 song by that title.

If every business owner in Cayuga and Seneca counties didn't pay any taxes or collect sales tax, how long would it take the government to close them down. Do we have two separate governments in Cayuga and Seneca counties, or do we have one government that opposes the Constitution of the USA and its laws and regulations?

" Is the City Manager above the law? Still driving around with one Utah plate! "

" I'm sure there was a lot of people who don't want the Music in the Mall...BUT...according to the Citizen online poll FAR MORE people want to continue it the way it was. The last time I checked the online poll it was 75-80% in favor of it. Its his job to serve the people and the people have voiced their opinion. "

" There is no defense for the city manager's actions. The problem was presented, and John Stevens acted on the issue of out-of-doors alcohol sales. It seems to me that the city manager would cry if the blue sky weren't blue enough because his religion said it should be two shades bluer! "

" ok so i was thinking, whats the difference between auburn, ny and other cities that are around the same size that are thriving. Auburn focuses too much time on the way things were... or "used to be" vs what can we do now to not only keep people here but bring people in. Now i dont know too much about this whole music in the streets thing but i can tell you its something that I might enjoy going to and putting some money in. Events that bring people to the city not only create revenue but create in interest in the fact that maybe just maybe something might be happening in auburn... but i must honestly say that i feel that the old, uppity, greedy people who basically run auburn... dont care about how auburn will be in the next 20-30 yrs because most of them are going to be 6 ft under anyways...A huge part of a growing city is people to help it grow and if the only thing this city worries about is... new sidewalks or silly politics... then soon there wont be anybody to run for office or walk on those brand new sidewalks.. focus not only on positive things but also on monetary investments that may make someone say... "hey i love the way auburn is setup and how the community really feels like a community maybe i would move here..." instead of..."hey i've been here 65 yrs... born and raised and i dont think that anyone under the age of 30 should have any say in this city because well... thats the way its been and thats the way it should be..." " Better shut down Duck Derby as well ... Lots of people outside enjoying themselves there too! It's a shame that people aren't allowed to enjoy themselves in this town. I'll be spending my time and money in Syracuse this summer with my wife and kids, and all the great festivals and family-oriented events they have to offer. I put my house up for sale ($20,000 less than I paid for it, just to get out of here) and have accepted an offer. Hopefully we'll close before summer's end. Good luck Auburn, I can't say that it's been enjoyable! "

" The city manager cancelled the whole affair even though John Stevens said there wouldn't be alcohol sales outdoors. John was trying to be accomodating, the new city manager was not. You seem to be making a lot of assumtions with regard to the event, I wonder if you've ever attenended? If you don't want people walking around that have had too much to drink, you'd better stop everyone on State Street on Friday or Saturday nights that are going from Parker's to Spirits to Curley's to Belvederes to Swifty's and give them a breathalyzer just to make sure.
