Disabled face challenges in community every day

Thursday, July 5, 2007 9:34 AM EDT

First, I would like to thank the lady who wrote about my brother and the challenges he faces daily on our rural secondary road. It sparked some attention.
Second, to thank Options For Independence for their support and their attempts to notify the proper people for a possible solution to this matter. I have also received recognition from Sen. Nozzolio and Assemblyman Oak's offices, expressing their concerns.

People with disabilities need to be out in the community, they are human beings.

They face many challenges. If you personally do not experience a disability, and its difficulties, you absolutely do not understand the challenges.

Again, our sincere thanks to all of you. We hope and pray for some solution.

On the other hand, much to our surprise, on Saturday, June 30, there was a crew on Towpath Road, stripping the road. Why? I asked the worker. He stated, the county (not the town of Brutus) wanted them to do it.

This is a town of Brutus secondary road. How much money did that cost our county for this task, and on a Saturday, besides? Was this necessary? The road is not really wide enough for this striping.

Presently, cars are driving on their side of the lines, parts of car is on the grassy shoulder.

I hope no one gets any glass or other debris in their tires from driving on the side in the grass.

Many ignorant people dump their trash on this road quite frequently.

You really have to use the middle of the road, since the center of the road is higher than the sides.

The condition of this road is very poor, the striping was done over messy oily tar that was mentioned prior.

Furthermore, for your information, other residents of Towpath Road do share and support our concerns, and now we are sharing them with all of you.
