Cayuga County Fair expanded this year
The Cayuga County Fair will be held Thursday through Sunday, July 5 through 8, at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds, located just off the New York State Thruway Exit 40 on Route 31 in Weedsport.

This year more events and activities have been added such as: A Lil' Baby Show, talent contest, an interactive agricultural awareness display and more.

Also the alpaca, dairy, beef, goat, sheep and horse shows have all been expanded. There will also be an opportunity to milk a goat.

Cato Rotarians bid student goodbye

Cato Rotarians entertained Dr. Mick Jenkins from the Baldwinsville Club on June 25.

Dr. Jenkins reported that Seneca River Days, sponsored by his club, will be July 6 and 7.

The Rotarians bid good-bye to the Venezuelan exchange student who is leaving for home.

The Rotarians are sponsoring the Civic Heritage History Center and will hold a fund drive for support of the project.

Dick Engle will be replacing Don Wynkoop as president at the next meeting.

Skaneateles theater lists performances

The STAGEKIDZ Middle School Program will present “Grease” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, in the Skaneateles High School Auditorium.

The SPOTLIGHTKIDZ Elementary School Program will present “Go Fish” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, in the high school auditorium.

Join in the aquatic fun as little Tiger Shark and his unique collection of friends discover how their differences make them each special.

The 2-week age-appropriate musical theater programs are run by the Skaneateles Summer Theatre, through the Skaneateles Town Recreation Department.

The Summer Theatre season will conclude with the annual community summer musical performance running July 27 through Aug. 4.

This year's production features more than 100 talented members of the community performing “The Wizard of Oz!” Tickets and reservations may be purchased by calling 685-8657.

Chapel launches concert series

The Willard Memorial Chapel with kickoff the “Tiffany Summer Concert Series” with “The Students of Bob Piorun” at noon Wednesday, July 11.

Included in the line-up of performers will be father and son guitarists Bob and Dean Comstock, drummer Sammy Martin, Adrienne Peltz on flute, guitarist Denny Salisbury, Brandon Berry, Dale Sherlock, Paul Granger, Sean Wignall and Ann Byrant.

Twin brothers Jacob and Noah Rusinko will give a performance on guitar and bass, and one of Piorun's students, Tom Wiggins, is proudly a blind guitar player.

Music will vary by the performers, who are all different ages, and will cover all styles such as classic, jazz, rock ‘n' roll and country.

This event is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted.

The concert series will be held every Wednesday at noon during the months of July and August (with the exception of the Fourth of July).
