Raffle will benefit Little Leaguers
There will be a raffle on July 7, at the Auburn Doubledays game to benefit six Auburn Little Leaguers who will be traveling to Cooperstown to play Aug. 24. Tickets are $5, and will be sold at the game and in advance by calling Jim Drancsak. Prizes include four tickets to Blue Jays games Sept 1-2, an ipod video, a diamond ring, and four passes to The Links at Erie Village. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize.

Sportsman's club to hold open house

The Cayuga County Sportsman's Club will be hosting an open house Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1.

The event will give those interested in the shotgun sports an opportunity to see what the club has to offer, take a tour of the different events, such as Trap, Skeet, 5-stand and Sporting Clays, and even try a game. Shooting is restricted to ages 14 and older, and all safety equipment will be provided.

Instructors will be on hand, and there will be complimentary coffee and doughnuts.

Pop Warner to hold final registration

Auburn Indians Pop Warner football and cheerleading is offering one final chance to register from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Auburn YMCA.

Swim lessons to start in Fleming

The Fleming Swim Program will be offering lessons from 11 a.m. to noon from July 10 to Aug. 2. There is a $5 fee, and lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Applications are available at town offices, and the deadline is Friday, June 29.

Funds available for Auburn athletes

Sen. Mike Nozzolio has secured $10,000 in funding to help provide Auburn City School District students with an opportunity to improve their athletic skills, build character and leadership, and increase their chances to earn athletic scholarships.

Applications are available at the Auburn Athletic Office at 78 Thornton Ave.

The deadline to be considered for this funding is July 6. Only students who will be juniors or seniors in the 2007-08 school year are eligible, and the maximum award is $250.
