Local farmers markets open
The Port Byron farmers market is open from 4 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 12, at Schasel Park on Route 31, Port Byron.

There will be no market on Wednesday, July 4. The market features local vendors, wineries, weekly chicken barbecues, monthly entertainment and bake sales. For more information, contact Mary Vitale Redmond at madyooch@excite.com.

The Auburn farmers market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through Tuesday, Oct. 30, on Genesee Street between South Street and Loop Road.

In addition to fruit and vegetables, the market features honey, cheeses, buffalo meat, fresh breads, cookies and whoopie pies. For more information, call 678-1622.

The Moravia farmers market is open from noon to 6 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 25, in the Kinney Drugs parking lot, 130 Main St., Moravia.

The market features fruit, vegetables, buffalo meat, honey, baked goods and samples from area wineries.

Church youth to serve spaghetti

The SS. Peter & John youth group's next all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the church, 169 Genesee St., Auburn.

The youth group students have been holding a dinner the fourth Wednesday of each month from September through June.

The money raised will be used to send the youth group members on a mission trip next summer.

Lamoreaux wins award for wine

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars, on Route 414 in Lodi, won a gold medal for its 2006 Gewurztraminer from the 2007 Great Lakes Wine Competition in Farmington Hills, Mich.

Church to host chicken barbecue

Trinity United Church of Christ will host a chicken barbecue at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the church, 163 Cayuga St., Union Springs. The barbecue is sponsored by the Union Springs Lions Club and will support St. Michael's Church.

Roosevelt Memorial Baptist Church will offer chicken and rib dinners from noon until supplies are gone on Saturday, June 30, at the church, 101 Fitch Ave., Auburn.

Goose Watch Winery turns 10

Goose Watch Winery will be celebrating its 10th anniversary from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 14, with live music, food, T-shirts and glassware. It will also hold a sale to clean out its warehouse.
