Carol M. Baldwin, chairperson of the board of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, will be the keynote speaker for the 10th annual women's health institute, “Our Mothers, Our Daughters, Our Health,” sponsored by Auburn Memorial Hospital.
The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Auburn Holiday Inn. Registration forms may be obtained by calling 255-7444, and a $15 registration fee covers breakfast, lunch and all sessions. Capacity is limited and advance registration is strongly recommended.
The keynote address is scheduled from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Following that, attendees will have the opportunity to attend three workshops from a selection of 12 sessions taught by physicians and other health care providers.
These include a special track on breast health and another track focusing on weight loss. Topics in the breast health track include breast cancer surgery by Dr. Deborah Geer, surgeon; reconstructive surgery after breast cancer by Dr. Guillermo Quetell, surgeon; radiation treatment for breast cancer by Dr. Muhammad Z. Iqbal, radiation oncologist, and a patient perspective panel in which breast cancer survivors tell their stories.
In the weight loss track, topics include medical weight loss by Dr. Wendy Scinta, bariatrician; surgical weight loss by Dr. Carl Weiss III, surgeon, and “The Sweet Taste of Success,” a patient panel featuring individual success stories.
In addition, there will be a session on heart disease in women taught by Dr. Nelly Kazzaz, cardiologist; arthritis and exercise by Dr. Marc Pietropaoli, orthopedic surgeon; geriatric dermatology by Dr. Pamela Foresman, dermatologist; hair loss in women, by Dr. Shirwan Mirza, endocrinologist, and “You, Your Bladder & Me,” by Dr. William Foresman, urologist.
