Toastmasters Club forming in Auburn
A chapter of the Toastmasters Club is forming in Auburn.
The club, dedicated to helping people improve public speaking and leadership skills, will have a demonstration meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Church, 25 Seminary Ave., Auburn.

Auburn man charged with BB gun assault
An Auburn man allegedly shot another man in the chin with a BB gun Tuesday, June 19, and has been charged with felony assault by the Auburn Police Department.
Carl M. Bond, of Apt. 1, 5 McMaster St., was charged with the felony of second-degree assault and the misdemeanor of second-degree reckless endangerment.
Police also allege Bond threw a metal set of handlebars and swung a small scooter during a verbal disagreement with the man who was shot.
The shooting victim suffered a small hole in his chin, police said.
He was treated by the Auburn Fire Department at the scene.
Man admits violating protection order
An Auburn man pleaded guilty in Auburn City Court earlier this month to violating an order of protection by striking a 16-year-old boy in the face and head in a May incident.
Bryant Barnwell's plea to second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment satisfied the felonies of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal contempt and the misdemeanor of third-degree assault.
Barnwell, 34, with a last known address of Apt. 2, 9 John St., was sentenced June 1 to 11 months in Cayuga County Jail for the second-degree criminal contempt charge and 15 days in CCJ for the second-degree harassment charge. An order of protection was granted.
Weapons charge dismissed in court
An Auburn man charged by the Auburn Police Department with firing a 12-gauge shotgun into the air Jan. 28 had the offense of weapons discharge dismissed in Auburn City Court June 12.
Police had accused Shawn A. Currier, 18, with last known address of Apt. 1, 15 Fort St., of discharging a shotgun after receiving a threatening phone call from an unknown male caller around 2:45 a.m.
Man gets six months for menacing
An Auburn man who admitted in Auburn City Court in April to threatening a woman with a knife during a domestic incident Jan. 23 was sentenced to six months in Cayuga County Jail earlier this month.
Tony Goodman, of 9 Genesee St., Auburn, also was sentenced to a $210 surcharge for the misdemeanor of second-degree menacing.
