50 Cent to pay more than quarters for child
The $25,000 a month in child support and household expenses that rapper 50 Cent pays to the mother of his 10-year-old son is not enough, says the boy's mother, Shaniqua Tompkins.
The rapper is “worth tens and tens of millions of dollars,” said her attorney, Raoul Felder.
The parents of young Marquise Jackson are wrangling over the issue in family court in this Long Island community, where 50 Cent arrived Friday in an armored SUV equipped with a satellite dish.
50 Cent no longer needs to worry about the choice he famously expressed on a 2004 album - “Get Rich or Die Tryin'.”
Hiltons can't decide on deal for Paris interview
The behind-the-scenes negotiations for Paris Hilton's first post-jail interview took an unexpected turn Friday as the jailed socialite and her family frantically sought to secure a deal with ABC's Barbara Walters - who then declined the exclusive.
The startling development came a day after the Hiltons told ABC News that they had decided to give the first sit-down interview to “Today” co-anchor Meredith Vieira because NBC had offered the family a more lucrative deal.
In exchange for use of personal videos and photos, NBC was willing to pay between $750,000 and $1 million, the family indicated, besting ABC's offer of $100,000.
But when news of the deal leaked Thursday, NBC promptly disavowed the story, saying the news division had no commitment from Hilton and does not pay for interviews. Late Thursday evening, a Hilton spokesman released a statement saying that the 26-year-old is not being compensated for any interviews or personal materials.
In the hours that followed, the heiress and her family - apparently fearful of losing a major network interview altogether - tried to renew discussions with Walters through a flurry of personal calls in the middle of the night, according to an ABC executive familiar with the situation.
Trump not playing nice with neighbors again
Donald Trump has upset his upscale peninsula neighbors - again.
First he erected an unauthorized 70-foot flagpole at his Trump National Golf Club, then he built a tee 8 feet higher than allowed. There was also a mysterious but illegal freeway sign pointing to the ocean bluff golf course.
Now, it's ficus trees. Hundreds of them. Planted without city permission in rows to screen the driving range from multimillion-dollar homes. Affluent peninsula neighbors are fuming.
“I laughed out loud - maybe I shouldn't have - it's either laugh or cry,” Councilman Doug Stern said. “It seems like this is a cultural trait within their organization.”
Trump downplayed the latest controversy.
“It was done for two purposes: beautification and safety,” he said of the two rows of trees. About 45 of them are 12 feet tall and another 300 are about 6 feet high.
“They're bushes - they look beautiful and everybody loves them. We have not had one complaint,” the billionaire real-estate developer said.
It turns out residents turned to the city instead.
“This is a very tenuous situation,” said Jessica Leeds, vice president of the Portuguese Bend Club East Homeowners Association.
