Man charged in assault of woman
An Auburn man was charged by the Auburn Police Department Monday, June 18, with allegedy threatening to kill a 34-year-old woman and grabbing a 2-year-old child out of the woman's arms by the head.
Joseph E. Frost, 33, of Apt. 2, of 136 VanAnden St., was charged with the misdemeanors of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child for an alleged June 17 incident.
Woman pleads guilty to ID theft
A Moravia woman pleaded guilty in Auburn City Court June 13 to applying for a credit card using another person's name.
Tonya J. Brown, 26, with a last known address of 5529 Murphy Hill Road, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor of third-degree identity theft in satisfaction of the felony of second-degree identity theft that she was originally charged with.
Brown was sentenced to a conditional discharge, 150 hours of community service, a $50 fine and restitution of $784 for purchases at Wal-Mart.
Seward House front entrance reopened
Seward House literally reopened its front door after it closed in July 2006.
Since then, visitors have been using the side entrance.
The front door steps now more accurately reflect the steps of the home's time built in 1816.
Seward House, the historic home of William Seward, is located at 33 South St., Auburn.
