Each Sunday, The Citizen features a pet which is available for adoption.
This week, we spotlight Lenny.
Q. Who is your best friend?
A. It's Dodger; the cat who gets to run around in here. He's been trying to get my cage open for me so that we can play.
Q. Do you know any special tricks?
A. Not yet. But Dodger can teach me some if he ever gets this latch unhooked!
Q. Do you get along with other animals?
A. Before I came here I did live with a dog, and we got along just fine. I also like the cats in here.
Q. Who do you prefer, adults or children?
A. I like both - but be gentle please.
Q. How often do you like to be groomed?
A. I've been brushed a couple of times by a volunteer. I really liked it and would like to put it on my schedule each day if possible.
Q. When you go to your new home what is the first thing you want to do?
A. Actually, before I go to my new home, I want to make sure no one has allergies so that I don't have to leave again.
Q. If you could visit any place in the world, where would that be?
A. Right now, a quick trip to the North Pole would be nice. This heat is getting to me.
Q. Do you have any advice for The Citizen's readers?
A. Yes. Having allergies does not mean that you can't keep your furry friends in your home. Please come and talk with the ladies here; they can give you lots of good alternatives and tons of stuff to read. Oh, one more thing: Please spay and neuter your pets.
Lenny
Breed: Orange tiger, domestic short hair
Age: 9 months old
Comments from the SPCA: Lenny came to the shelter about two weeks ago. He had been living with a family that, unfortunately, had allergies. After some rest and getting his vaccinations up to date, Lenny is now ready to move on.
What we know from his previous owners: He has been an indoor-only cat and absolutely prefers to remain that way. He is friendly and playful, and when visitors come, he hides under the bed. He likes to be petted on his head. In his previous life, he lived with a canine friend. He uses his litter box faithfully and never had an accident in the house.
Lenny has received his first distemper and rabies vaccinations, has been tested for FIV/Leukemia and is negative and has had a general de-worming. He has also been vaccinated against feline kennel cough. He is not yet neutered but will be soon.
The adoption donation for Lenny is currently $90, which includes a refundable $50 neuter deposit. He is available for adoption now.
