Reported twister does little damage
A spotter saw a funnel cloud in east Venice around 3:55 p.m. Thursday, but the high winds only resulted in minor property damage in the Aurora and Ledyard area, reported Brian Dahl, director of Cayuga County's Emergency Management Office. Dahl did not believe the funnel cloud touched down.
County sheriff Dave Gould also reported “some branches down” and “very minor damage.” Four Town Ambulance also reported no calls for storm-related injuries. Fire departments were called to standby, but were released by 6:15 p.m. Whether the funnel cloud was an actual tornado or another weather phenomenon will be up to the National Weather Service, Dahl said.
