President Truman vetoed today the Taft-Hartley Bill to curb labor unions and an aroused House swiftly and overwhelmingly passed it over the veto. That put it up to the Senate to clinch, the decision on whether the bill is to become law over the presidents disapproval.

AUBURN - Steamboats will chug a blast from the past to Cayuga Lake Thursday. The Great International Steamboat Flotilla floats into the Finger Lakes June 23-28, setting up a temporary home base on the New York State Barge Canal in Seneca Falls. Boats will arrive in Seneca Falls from all over North America.

PORT BYRON - Port Byron is one step closer to having a new superintendent. A search committee has offered the job to Bob Dubik, an assistant superintendent in the Waterloo Central School District. Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Superintendent Gary Gilchrist said the Port Byron school board has decided to offer the position to Dubik, and that they are in the process of trying to work out his contract. If he accepts the position, Dubik's salary will be between $95,000 and $102,000.
