A hush falls over the crowd

The moment of silence was long, but it could have lasted a lifetime for the King of Baseball.
The Auburn Doubledays honored Leo Pinckney, who passed away in November, in a ceremony before the team's home game at Falcon Park on Tuesday. Pinckney's family gathered at the pitcher's mound prior to the game to honor the man who helped bring professional baseball to Auburn. Several of his family members simultaneously tossed out the first pitch of the 2007 season.

In addition, the patch that all Auburn players will wear on the arms of their uniforms this season in honor of Pinckney was formally introduced.

" I often wonder if Leo Pickney was superman? Wasn't anybody else involved in helping to bring baseball back to Auburn? Wasn't there any ex professional ball players involved or smi-pros? why is it the other committe member are never mention? lets give credit due to the other persons in volved, I am sure Pickney didn't do it him self. " Leo put Auburn, NY on the map. So much good has come from baseball in Auburn. I hope someone steps up to insure a great future for Auburn. "
