Auburn's eighth-grade AAU boys basketball team finished its season with a 1-2 weekend at the Tucker Neale tournament at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. The team's final record stands at 18-12.
Auburn lost the first game Friday to a team from Cleveland by a score of 54-49. Nicholas Granato scored 23 points, while teammate Phazon Charles added eight points. Connor Engle and Brendan Raftis were both strong on the defensive side of the ball.
Auburn won its second game, defeating a team from Connecticut 54-45 on Saturday. Granato again led the team with 21 points. Mike Granato added eight points, including three on a half-court buzzer beater before halftime. Anthony Pollard chipped in seven points.
In the team's final game, Auburn lost to a different team from Connecticut by a score of 56-42. Jabari Penda led the team with 12 points, while Nicholas Granato added 10 points. Brian Roe played well defensively.
