HIT: To the start of another season of Auburn Doubledays baseball.
Tonight is the season's opener at Falcon Park, and we're sure to see another big crowd out there to cheer this year's team on.
Every year the Doubledays provide one of the best family entertainment values anywhere in upstate New York. A big bonus the past five years for fans has been the team's success, as they've won five straight division titles.
This year's team returns a bunch of players, so there's reason to be optimistic for a sixth consecutive crown, and perhaps even a New York-Penn League title, too.
HIT: To the slew of Father's Day events held throughout the area Sunday.
From the big Prison City Ramblers car show at Emerson Park to pancake breakfasts and barbecues scattered throughout the county, families had a multitude of options for treating Dad to a day of fun.
MISS: To the report of an attack and attempted sexual assault of an Auburn woman early Sunday morning.
Police are searching for a suspect in the reported attack, which took place on Washington Street. It's disturbing to think of an attacker like this wandering the streets. We urge people with any information that can help the investigation to contact law enforcement.
HIT: To Weedsport High School's first Graduates of Distinction.
The school on Saturday honored two alumni who have achieved success in the real world. Medical research scientist Dr. Paul Parkman and restaurant developer Daniel Soules were the initial recipients of this new honor.
Congratulations go out to these two individuals, and kudos as well to the school district, for choosing to honor alumni achievement. Maybe a few current Weedsport students will be inspired to follow in their footsteps.
