Three teen males attempted to rob a 17-year-old female Monday afternoon while she walked to her residence on West Street, according to the Auburn Police Department.
The female was approached by three black males between the ages of 13-to-16-years old on bicycles.

Suspects allegedly used physical force against the victim, grabbed her MP3 player headphones and attempted to take an MP3 player and shoulder bag which she was also carrying before she ran from the scene.

The victim was not injured and the headphones were later recovered.

Police officials describe the suspects as three thin and short-haired black males between the ages of 13 and 16-years-old. All were last seen wearing shorts. One suspect wore a red and blue sports jersey and the second male was wearing a white shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 253-3235 or 255-4706.

" A) I don't own a cell phone, much less a hands-free one to chatter on in my car. B) I HAVE called the police before about dangerous drivers -- I've had license numbers and even once the address because the person pulled into her home after committing the dangerous driving act. I was told the police could/would not do anything unless they catch the person in the act. Period. No point calling if that's the response. So, it's not like I haven't tried, it's that the system doesn't work. C) I am just pondering whether the problem is that the police aren't doing their jobs, or if there aren't enough of them, or they are mismanaged and dispatched inefficiently or what. Today driving to the airport in Syracuse and back I saw 4 speeders pulled over by STATE police, and 2-3 more lying in wait in speed traps. Maybe the police are all on the Thruway and the rest of the roads can go to Hades in a handbasket. D) As for the prison -- absolutely the cause of the crime! Adding a casino just adds even more crime. "

" The prison is the reason for all the crime. The families of these inmates move into our area to be close to their loved ones. This causes more crime and welfare in our area. Close the prison and build a casino!! There would be less crime. "

" Farmers Gal, pick up your phone and call 911. On 34 if it is outside the city it would be the County that responds as a rule anyways, not the City. Get a plate number, description of the vehicle, anything and report it. "

" Farmer's Gal....if you recognized this bad driver before...get the plate number, quit acting like the rest of the lemmings...help the cops...if you haven't the powers of observation needed to do this...then surrender your license..you are a danger to others "

" It's not an either-or issue; there is no reason a citizen shouldn't be able to expect to have all the laws enforced: the so-called "petty" ones AND the "serious" ones. (If you'd lost a loved one in a traffic accident caused by a speeder, red light runner or other unsafe driver, you might not think these laws are so "petty.") Why is it one reads so often of crimes and illegal acts in Auburn but we read of arrests only a small percentage of the time? I think just about every day I encounter at least one dangerous enough driver on the road that I am thinking "Where are the cops when you need them, before that person kills somebody?" -- but I only see cops on the road maybe a couple times a month. Just the other day, some kid in a black car came tearing around the corner in Fleming from 34 onto 34B going so fast he nearly tipped his car over -- you could see the whole body of the car lift up on one side -- and he was wholly in my lane as I came to the corner to turn from 34B onto 34. He swerved back into his own lane in time not to hit me -- this time. I think the same kid passed me in a no-passing zone on Sherwood Rd the day before, doing about 75. But where are the cops? They aren't on the streets of Auburn stopping the concentration of dangerous drivers there either, and sounds like they aren't keeping the streets safe for decent people to walk home without being attacked by packs of violent criminal children, for goodness sake. As if there weren't enough crime and not enough cops already, and you people want a casino?!?!??? "

" Do you think this sort of crime is exclusive to Auburn? This happens everywhere and we have to fight back. Tougher judges and more officers on patrol. Quick complaining about every petty thing that happens such as left turns into Dunky Do-nutz and cars not stopping completely at stop signs. Let the police stop serious crimes. Give them more money for more officers even if you spend more in taxes. Let,s take a bite out of crime! "

" Boston Mass. had an area that was called the combat zone at one time. I guess Auburn has it's own combat zone, it starts at James st. goes west on Genesee to Washington st. north on Washington to Seymour st and all streets east and west off Washington st.in that area. Maybe the national guard should stay here and fight this war. "

" Life in Auburn just keeps getting better and better doesn't it? Unreal. And of course these kids have nothing else to be doing. "

" yep, once again it`s not safe on the streets even during the day. Can`t wait to see how bad it gets when these `angels` are on the streets 24/7. "
