Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Emmanuel Ferrara of Lake Village Antiques.

Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A. Really just meeting so many different people.

Q. What is the most challenging?

A. Keeping yourself on the profit side of the ledger.

Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?

A. I would have liked to play piano internationally.

Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?

A. Probably just putting my feet up on a recliner and just relaxing and stretching out.

Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes region?

A. I like the openness and freedom there is. I meet a lot of people who moved from urban environments and found a lot of enriching experiences in the open area. They find more peace and quiet.

Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world, who would they be and why?

A. Gregory Peck. As an actor, in most of his films Gregory Peck was portrayed as the epitome of man in the most stalwart of character. Pianist Carmen Cavallaro, an internationally known pianist who has been like my mentor over the years. And I'd like to have dinner and a lengthy discussion with the pope.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A. Probably in this central New York community, still selling antiques.

Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?

A. If it was a substantial amount, I'd probably call certain individuals together and form a foundation as a memorial on behalf of my family.

Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?

A. I have an empathy toward all people who are suffering.

Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what's the first thing you'd change?

A. I'd enlist the best people that could develop the resources that Union Springs could utilize in its best interests.

Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?

A. I want to take a sabbatical away from the area for about a month and go some place.
