An Auburn woman suffered injuries after fending off a man who tried to sexually assault her.
The unidentified victim was grabbed in her Washington Street home by a large male, estimated at 250 pounds with a heavy build. She then scratched his face and kicked him in his lower body until he fled.
The man punched the victim in the face and head repeatedly. Her face and head have minor bruising and swelling.
The Auburn Police Department is asking for any information regarding a suspect who has scratches to his face and bruises and other marks on the lower part of his body.
The suspect is described as 35 to 45 years old, black, 5 feet and 5 inches tall, bald or a shaved head and wearing glasses.
The man approached the victim at 12:30 a.m. Sunday and asked for a cigarette. As she left her front porch to get one from her home, he followed her inside. The man then began grabbing her. Police are withholding the specifics of the perpetrator's actions but said he proceeded to attempt to sexually assault her.
The male was wearing black colored button-up dress shirt, blue jeans and black dress shoes.
Police asks anyone with any information to contact the police at 253-3235 or 255-4706.
