Dutch Oven class offered at Bass Pro
On Saturday, June 16, and Saturday, June 24, “Dutch Oven Dave Horton” will give a 1 p.m. seminar and hands-on cooking and tasting demonstration on Dutch Oven cooking for camping.

The demonstrations will be held at the front of the Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center at the Fingerlakes Mall in Aurelius.

Breakfast for Dad at Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Church will serve a Father's Day breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 17, at the church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn. The menu will include scrambled eggs, sausage links, pancakes, juice and coffee.

The cost is $3 per adult and $2 per child. Moms and children will be serving breakfast to dad. Everyone is welcome.

Clan to host Father's Day barbecue

The Clink Clan Relay for Life team will host a Father's Day barbecue at noon Sunday, June 17, at the Yawger Brook Campground. A donation price of $12 includes pulled-pork dinner, music by Big Daddy DJ and other activities. A cash bar and raffles will also be available. All donations benefit the American Cancer Society.

Refuge, winery to offer special event

The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and Montezuma Winery will present the fourth annual Wildflowers and Wine event from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at the refuge, 3395 Routes 5 and 20 East, Montezuma.

Visitors can take wildlife tours of the cerulean warbler habitat and sow wildflower seeds on a grassland restoration project area.

The Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department will hold a barbecue at the winery, which will also unveil its new Cerulean Warbler wine.

Wine ice cream gets expo award

Mercer's Dairy wine ice cream was awarded “Best New Product” in the “Small Bite, Big Taste” competition at the fifth Great American Dessert Expo in Atlanta. The Dessert Expo was held June 1 through 3, at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

Mercer's wine ice cream is available in Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Ala Port, Peach White Zinfandel and Royal White Riesling. Since it is a 12 percent cream product with up to 5 percent alcohol by volume, consumers must be over 21 to purchase it. The company is located in Boonville.

Port Byron farmers market to open soon

The Port Byron farmers market will open from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Schasel Park on Route 31, Port Byron.

The market will continue to be open during those hours every Wednesday through Sept. 12. There will be no market on Wednesday, July 4.

The market features local vendors, wineries, chicken barbecues, entertainment and bake sales.
