Those “electronic guns” don't detonate IEDs, they jam the radio signals of remote-detonated IEDs If the IED is pressure activated, like the one that blew up my son's truck, the jammers are useless.
Over $1 trillion has been spent on Iraq, and we have implemented huge tax cuts for the very rich. To pay for these fiascoes, we want to close the Auburn Social Security office.

Why is it that Sheriff Dave Gould will not take responsibility for the suspension of Lt. Langler? I can only assume that he didn't realize the overwhelming support that Langler would receive from the people in Cayuga County.

I'm not certain what Ms. Estabrook meant when she said Roy Brown didn't deserve any money, but I'll certainly remember that when she gets a bum rap and railroaded into prison for 15 years for something she didn't do.

Just like there's no statute of limitation for murder, there's no statute of limitations for those that would hide the murderer.

I don't understand why The Citizen continues to publish Judy's “My View” column. Doesn't she realize that by today's standards, when she refers to the casino owners as “the Indians,” her racial prejudices shine through?

Last week The Citizen showed a picture of five lawyers the government supplied a terrorist being held in Cuba. How many will I get when I refuse to sign up for phony Medicare Part D and refuse to register my rifle and shotgun?

I have an idea, let's get all the taxpayers together and form a corporation so we can tell the county that we're having trouble keeping up with the Jones and we need money. If they don't give us twice as much as we need and let us stop paying taxes, we're going to move.

The wheels of justice are coming down on John Chick like a sloth on librium.

Why can't we keep the Social Security office here in Auburn? We are mostly populated with senior citizens.

Industries move out of Auburn, now Social Security is moving out of Auburn. What is going on?

All truck drivers, whether it be an independent or a company unit, all must pay taxes for all roads they drive, regardless of what state they are in and it is not their fault that these monies are misappropriated. For all of you who complain nonstop about truck drivers, stay home because if you buy it, they brought it.

Paris Hilton's recent inexplicable early release from jail proves beyond a measure of doubt one thing - that there is a different measure of justice for pretty well-connected rich people.

I'm loud and I'm proud to be fighting against this McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill that rewards these criminal Mexican invaders.

To Mr. Palesh and others in power: Leave the nonprofit agencies alone in regard to a garbage collection fee. To save money start by giving up some of your cushy benefits in parks.

Michael Arcuri, please fight hard to keep the Social Security office in Auburn, the senior citizens can not be traveling on the roads to Syracuse and Geneva at their ages.

I find it humorous that treasonous George Bush got sick to his stomach when he found out that the Senate rejected his amnesty scheme to get 70 to 80 million criminal, free-loading Democrat voters into the United States, and was shot down.

Just because truckers provide a vital service doesn't give them the right to break the laws and endanger the public. If I'm injured by truck, my family will suffer greatly - please slow down.

Could not the Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau find other people whose names did not end in Lattimore or a blood line to a Lattimore for the increasing tourism honors.

I must respond to The Citizen's Our View, on May 31, that said the sheriff's office needs to get past politics because apparently The Citizen was seriously misinformed. This sheriff, David Gould, is the most non-political sheriff we ever had -- ask a deputy and ask the former sheriff's loyalists.

Those of us who were able to attend the concert by the pupils of Victoria Kenney, at the Church of the Nazarene: It was a wonderful performance and she needs to be congratulated as well as the eight harpists who performed for us.

How true was the comment in The Citizen's Say column about the prison attracting undesirables. Auburn is now a dangerous crime-ridden town, thanks to the families of prisoners who come here to milk the welfare system.

" Bobbo/AJ-You might also want to read the March 07 House Judiciary Committee report stating that because illegal are bringing fake drivers license, etc they are also voting in elections. Also Connecticut passed a law rewarding illegal aliens with in-state tuition breaks in post-secondary schools, and let bills die that would have helped children of those killed in the military to obtain a post-secondary education! They also receive many benefits using these fake ID and by law must be allowed to receive medical attention in our hospitals whether they can pay or not. So if you'd like me to continue let me know, otherwise I will take it you get my point. "

" AJ/Bobbo-What I'm talking about is free, no rent, no utilities, zilch, nada. The employer builds little block homes on their property and allows them to live in them. So no they do not pay taxes. And to add insult to injury many govn't CIV/MIL jobs are being done by illegals courtesy of the contractor. If the gov't is aware they take care of the situation but this is not always the case and BTW if the job is demo of govt housing they often live in them before demo, again free. This has been happening under Rep and Dem leadership. Now do you get it. "

Oh thats right the farmers should go bankrupt and get no help from the government and then get deported since their children are a burden to the schools and welfare system and we can import the fruits and veggies from foreign nations with child labor or forced slave labor. That is the republican way. Whatever benefits you. "

brew1234 wrote on Jun 13, 2007 1:53 AM:

" First of all don't talk down to me Boobo. I was responding to the 80 million that was in a post by some racist republican that claimed that all illegal aliens are freeloading criminals. I know how many are in this country. Where did you dig up that factoid about more people killed by illegals than soldiers by Iraqis? I bet more people are killed by afro-americans than soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan. Do we deport them back to Africa? A republican is one who cares more for himself than his fellow man. A man who believes in the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Thet have no consideration for the sick and mentally incompetent just themselves. They put God in everyones face and force their values on others. They also pull crazy fact and data that has no basis in fact. "

You are just paranoid or something. A few bad stories about people living in lower class neighborhoods and people think Auburn is dangerous and scary. If you start trouble with someone while walking in ANY neighborhood, there will be trouble. "

That he's just unlucky or stupid to be applying for citizenship through lawful channels? How do you think HE feels about this Amnesty Bill?!?!?! "

" Last year the income being sent back home by ILLEGAL aliens to Mexico actually eclipsed--surpassed--Mexico's GDP...That's right--ILLEGAL aliens sent back MORE MONEY than Mexico even makes through it's own economy. This is AMERICAN money, money that should be staying in-country and financing American workers, businesses, families, and our tax base. The Mexican MIddle Class is growing exponentially while the American MC is shrinking. Hospitals in the Southeast are closing in droves because ILLEGALS use them like free clinics and DON'T PAY! ILLEGALS are sucking out the lifesblood of Americans, and these unethical employers are getting fat and rich off them. Bobbo's right!--enforce the laws and PENALIZE ALL LAWBREAKERS! "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Jun 12, 2007 6:16 PM:

" Like the rest of the Citizen's online system, the registration part isn't very well designed. It wasn't announced in advance, but rather just appeared today. There's no explanation of how it works, what will happen with information you provide, how it will display or even if it will display. There does not appear to be any way to change or edit your account once you have set it up. It is not unreasonable for the newspaper to have some kind of identifying info on posters, so long as it is not publically displayed, but who knows if you supply it whether it will display or not. So, I still think it is a good idea to have registration, to make people be a little more responsible when posting, but I also believe people should be able to remain anonymous to other readers, and each user should be able to decide when to allow a name to appear or not. For example, there are times when I like to post using my real name -- gives credence to my posts when I feel safe to reveal it. Other times I would rather remain anonymous. This system doesn't have that flexibility, and it is sorely lacking documentation/explanations, esp. BEFORE the person decides what to put in or leave out. Yes, evaluating online services is a part of my profession and my job (I only mention a few points here). "

" Harley, what do you mean "free housing"? "

Bobbo wrote on Jun 12, 2007 4:48 PM:

" Well I live in North Carolina and we have the 4th highest illegal alien population in the nation. One could hire an illegal for 8 to 10 dollars and hour in construction, but a legal citizen doing the same job cost about 14 dollars an hour. Now an employer has a choice, hire the guy who'll take $10 an hour or the guy who'll needs $14. More often than not the employer will hire the illegal. Now the legal citizen has a choice, he can either lower is asking wage to match the illegal's and work for a mere $10, or find another line of work. This is how illegals drive down wages. This is why people assume Americans won't do these jobs. This is why amnesty won't work. "

HarleyD wrote on Jun 12, 2007 4:25 PM:

Bobbo wrote on Jun 12, 2007 4:01 PM:

" Brew, brew, brew, where do I begin. First off, there are 12 to 20 million ILLEGAL aliens in this country, not 80. Did you notice the word ILLEGAL in all caps there, yeah... its true, they broke the law by illegally crossing our borders (psst.. we have laws against that) that makes them criminals. If they came to the country legally, they wouldn't be criminals and we wouldn't be having this discussion or amnesty bill. They are freeloaders because they taxes they do pay (if any) on they low salaries don't even come close to the cost they impose on society (schools, health care, and other social benefits). Why does everyone assume republicans are they only ones who hire illegals. Most illegals are hire by small businesses and contractors for cheap labor. Some of my best friends are bleeding heart liberals who hire illegals in the constrution field. The Democrats are the ones who want this bill to pass so they can get votes, and yes, statistically speaking the uneducated poor overwhelmingly vote democrat because of their promise of wealth redistribution. Furthermore, illegals drive down the working class wages. You see, its not that Americans won't do these jobs (Harley your an idiot), its just that they won't do them at those slave wages. The solution is simple, enforce the current laws on the books and start penalizingemployers who hire illegals. They come for work, if they can't get a job, they'll go home. Also the borders must be secured with high tech fencing and survielence. PS More people die in the USA every day to the hands of illegal aliens than American soldiers die in Iraq. This Amnesty Bill will do more than put the socialist Dems in power, it will bankrupt our country. Secure the borders first, then deal with the illegals! "

" Karl I don't know where you get all your wisdom but in Florida these illegals have all the construction jobs Americans think they're to good for. I'm not saying I agree with this whole thing but at least they'd finally start paying taxes, etc. Their kids have been in our school system for years and they've not been paying any taxes. Let them study and become citizens with the first year or so and if they don't they can leave. "

brew1234 wrote on Jun 12, 2007 2:37 PM:

" This registration is intrusive and the information asked is none of your business. And talk about racist sentiment how about the accusation that 80 million Mexicans are free loaders and criminals? The majority of these people come here to earn a wage by working harder than we ever will to earn the lowest wage the Republican business owners can pay. "

Because people are in their beds asleep instead of doing crime. If Auburn was soooo bad, there would be crackheads roaming around all hours of the night, police sirens constantly and gun shots every few hours. "
