Storm washes out Weedsport parade
Severe storms that swept through the area Friday night forced the Weedsport Firemen's Field Days parade to be postponed.

The parade has been rescheduled for tonight, with lineup at 5 p.m. at Weedsport High School and the parade kicking off at 6 p.m.

Church continues anniversary bash

St. Francis Church, in Auburn, will continue its 100th anniversary celebration at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, with a Mass in celebration of the feast of St. Anthony of Padua.

Pasta, vegetables and salad will be served in the church hall for $5.

Tickets are available at Paul's Barber Shop, Tesoro Apparel and the rectory at Italian Heritage Society. Contact the rectory at 252-7778 or 252-0776 to R.S.V.P.

At 7:30 p.m. a special concert will be provided by Auburn Civic Band at the Lady Lourdes Shrine. Members of the public are welcome to the concert. If raining, the concert will be held in the church.

Visitors Bureau elects directors

The Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau elected directors to serve two-year terms during their annual meeting June 5.

The following directors were elected: Carl Gutelius of the Auburn Doubledays; Linda Knight of the Holiday Inn; Joni Lincoln of Cato; David Miller of Weedsport; Norman Riley of the Ward O'Hara Agricultural Museum; Connie Tallcot of Auburn; Nancy Tish of Bet the Farm, Aurora; Jerry Ryan of MacKenzie-Childs.

Bus drivers to show off skills at ‘roadeo'

The 25th Annual Centro Bus Roadeo will be open to the public at the New York State Fairground Sunday.

About 45 bus drivers from Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida and Oswego counties will try their hands at an obstacle course that gauges abilities to handle turns, curves and reverses.

The “roadeo” runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The top qualifiers will go on to the state competition.

County jail reports inmate totals

The Cayuga County Jail was housing 177 inmates as of Friday, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office reported.

A total of 143 men, 22 women and 12 minors are in custody. Three inmates are boarded in from another county, and 31 inmates are boarded in from federal custody. A total of 77 inmates have pending criminal matters and are of a pre-sentencing status, and 69 are serving a sentence. Eight are serving time related to parole violations.
