Here we go again. I still am having a problem understanding why our legislators can't learn what consecutive means. And how intelligent are the liars (oops, I meant lawyers)?
Twelve - have you got that part so far? That means in the first year, the second year, the third year, the fourth year, the fifth year, the sixth year, the seventh year, the eighth year, the ninth year, the 10th year, the 11th year and the 12th year, you hold office one after the other or in a row. Those are consecutive years. There are no loopholes for those of you who like to make things more difficult and confusing than they are.
It's rather simple. Have you figured that out so far? There is nothing about a partial year. If you held office in any one year or part thereof, that constitutes a year.
So even if you hold office for 12 partial years in a row, you have served your 12 consecutive years. Now you are not eligible for another elected or appointed term of public office as a legislator. Now, can you understand that? Please, if you don't, you don't belong there anyway.
