Like Cayuga County's Republican Party Committee, the county's Conservative Party leaders also endorsed incumbent Timothy Lattimore for Auburn mayor.
The Conservative Party Committee met Wednesday night into Thursday morning at the LaBuff-Cole Cole American Legion, in Cato, to endorse candidates for the upcoming fall election. They finished their work just after midnight, committee Chairman Greg Rigby said.
Committee members voted to endorse Lattimore for mayor. Auburn City Councilor David Dempsey, a Democrat, has also announced his candidacy and picked up the county Independence Party Committee endorsement.
Conservatives also showed support for Thomas McNabb to retain his open city council seat.
Conservatives also endorsed Jon E. Budelmann for Cayuga County district attorney. He is running against Democrat Michael G. Bass, who secured the Independence endorsement last week. Budelmann, currently the chief assistant for District Attorney James Vargason, has also secured the Republican Party endorsement.
Cayuga County Democrats are expected to meet next week to make their official endorsements.
“We interviewed everyone that showed up personally,” Rigby said. “There was conversation about all the positions.”
Committee members endorsed candidates for four Cayuga County Legislative seats. Rigby said they will wait to the petition deadline to endorse candidates for three other open seats .
Michael Chapman received the endorsement for the District 2 legislative seat while Roger Mills received committee support to run for the District 6 seat. Incumbent Legislator Peter Tortorici representing District 10 receive a committee endorsement along with Patrick Mahunik, who will run for the District 12 seat.
