Hospital to host Alzheimer's session
If you have concerns about an older person who has memory loss, a session to be conducted by Cathy James, from the Alzheimer's Association, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the second floor conference room at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Topics to be covered include an overview of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, review of symptoms and stages, strategies for better communication, caregiving tips and different programs and services that are available. Also, an opportunity to ask questions will be allowed.

Auburn woman faces forgery charge
An Auburn woman was charged by the Auburn Police Department Friday with allegedly stealing checks, making them out to herself and signing the checking account owner's name.
Andrea S. Springstead, also known as Andrea Skibo-Maiden, 27, of Apt. 3, 115 N. Division St. was charged with the felony of second-degree forgery.
The alleged offense occurred May 16, and Springstead was arrested Friday morning.
Throopsville church seeks returnables
Members of the Throopsville Community Church are collecting returnable cans and bottles to assist in needed repairs.
People can put cans and bottles in the drop box behind the church. Proceeds will help the church improve the kitchen, a better handicapped accessible entrance, new bathrooms, siding, and enlarging the fellowship hall. Sunday morning donations and a group of volunteers keep the church running, including the 3,000 meals each month the sanctuary's food pantry provides to families.
Members welcome any donation or help with the repair work. Call 776-8941 or 252-1074 for information or to have your bottles picked up.
Leadership Cayuga to hold graduation
The Leadership Cayuga Class of 2007 receives certificates of completion during graduation ceremonies Thursday, June 14, at the Sunset Restaurant in Auburn.
Alumni, families, employers and community sponsors will join them to celebrate the investment of the graduates and encourage them to further service to their communities.
In its 19th program year, 24 people, including four Youth Leadership participants, completed the course.
The event is $10 per person and open to the public. For further information about the ceremony, or about the Leadership Cayuga program, call 252-7292 or e-mail leadership@cayugacountychamber.com.
