Alzheimer's support group to meet
The Alzheimer's Association Central New York Chapter has announced its support group schedule. These monthly meetings are open to caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease. A complete list of support groups may be downloaded at www.alzcny.org.
The meetings are slated to gather locally at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. The group will meet today, July 3 and Aug. 7.
Note that the July meeting may be postponed due to Independence Day.

Psoriasis topic of tonight's lecture
“Psoriasis: Answering Your Questions About Psoriasis and Psoriatric Arthritis” will be the topic of tonight's Medically Speaking lecture series held from 7 to 8 p.m., at Auburn Memorial Hospital in the auditorium, located on the hospital's lower level.
Dr. Jeffrey LaDuca, dermatologist, will be the speaker. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m., and free parking is available.

Blood still needed in Cayuga County
According to the American Red Cross Blood Services, an unexpected decline in blood collections since the beginning of May has resulted in a shortfall of more than 1,900 units of blood.
A blood drive is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, at the Chamber of Commerce, 36 South St., Auburn.

A stress reduction class with Connie Heagerty, CHP, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at The Center, 1 Hoffman St., Suite B, Auburn.
In this two-hour class, participants will explore various stress techniques that can easily be worked into one's schedule.

Long-term care seminar to be given
A free long-term care insurance seminar will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the Boyle Center, 149 Genesee St., Auburn.
To reserve a seat, call the Cayuga County Office for the Aging Long Term Care Insurance Education and Planning program at 253-1017.
Mammograms to
be made available
Screening mammograms will be available to any and all women - regardless of their health insurance or income status - on June 21, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Women do need to be at least age 40 or be under age 40 with a family history of breast cancer. Mammograms will be provided at no charge to women who have high deductibles, inadequate coverage or no health insurance. Health insurance plans will be billed for women with coverage for mammography.
Appointments are required. To register, contact Danielle Lavetan at Cayuga County Health Department at 253-1455 by Monday, June 11.
