" This column is "citizen's say" of course many of us have very different opinions about various subjects.This weekends subject mostly has been the clear trash bags.I am all for recycling but I honestly have yet to see a trashman care what color bag I have!Whats the punishment if I do use a blsck bag? Will I be fined? And if so I think of better things to fine for: such as not putting out trash at all-and letting it pile in your backyard and create infestations etc.FINE owners for not cleaning up their properties But not for trying with a wrong color bag! Auburn is a low income town-more than 50% are on welfare of some sort-so why have a law to force poor people to buy clear bags--be greatful they are clean and take the trash to the curb!There are many other ways to recycle and YES we should all be doing a part--but that also means we dont have to do "brews" part or my part--YOU as a citizen may have your own way to recycle and good for you! I dont feel we are wasting newspaper space and this is an online forum..and I didn't see YOU leave your email addy or I would have written to you personally! "

" Trash removal is serious business not the mockery you clowns are making it. It is important to the city's budget and the environment. Clear bags are an integral part of a recycling program. If the trash collectors can't see if recyclables are in the bag then they will be taken to the landfill which will cause more expense for the city in trash volume and a ecological problem when you multiply this problem by thousands of trash pickups. If you want a successful recycling program then put pressure on the local retailers to stock the bags you need. Set up a picket line at the entrance of a retailer that doesn't stock clear bags and I bet they will have then in stock tommorrow. "
