Many reasons to celebrate America's independenceIndependence Day, the Fourth of July, 2007:

Saturday, June 2, 2007 11:38 PM EDT

American colonists declared their independence from Great Britain
by adopting the Declaration of Independence.

It was signed in 1776 at Independence Hall at Philadelphia, Pa.

It became a national holiday in 1941.

Today we celebrate this day with cookouts, speeches, parades.

We decorate with red, white, blue.

Some wear stars and stripes.

We fly our flags high with pride, sing national songs.

It's also the start of summer, fun.

When evening shade descends and night takes over light,

we gather to watch colorful fireworks displays that light the night skies.

A day for all Americans to celebrate freedom that so may fought and died for ...

our Independence Day.
