That's the good news, Contiguglia said. The bad news is that according to state law, Contiguglia, 66, will only be able to serve until he is 70.

Sgt. Rob Outhouse of the Cayuga County Sheriff's Department, in the race to be the next county sheriff, was nominated by a large margin over Clyde Police Chief Clinton Gary and county jail corrections officer Mario Campanello at the Republican Party caucus.

Outhouse garnered 155 votes, compared to 20 for Gary and 3 for Campanello.
"I think he'll be a very strong candidate," said Mike Chapman, County Chairman of the GOP. "He's the right man at the right time."
The Republicans also chose incumbent state Assemblyman Gary Finch from Springport, over Auburn challenger Tim Lattimore, 75-8, for the nomination for the newly-drawn 123rd District.
