Nozzolio, Finch
discuss truck traffic

Representatives of the Upstate New York Safety Coalition Task Force met Friday with state Sen. Michael Nozzolio and Assemblyman Gary Finch hosted at their Auburn offices to discuss ways to get large garbage haulers off of local roads and back onto Route 81 and Interstate 90.

“There's no magic bullet; there's no one thing that can be done to solve the problem,” Nozzolio said, noting he and Finch are looking at various solutions to the issue. Two of these potential solutions relate to giving truckers incentives to use the interstates, rather than local roads such as routes 41, 41A and 90. Nozzolio said that he would like to see the Thruway Authority double the E-ZPass discount percentage for commercial truckers.
