Fairfield University men's lacrosse player Greg Downing was named a USILA All America Honorable Mention for the third straight season, announced during the NCAA Championship weekend in Baltimore, Md. The senior midfielder is the only Stag player in program history to earn multiple All-America honors.
Downing, a first team All-ECAC and All New England selection this spring as well, finished the year third on the team with 27 points. He scored 20 goals for the fourth time in his collegiate career, good for second on the team.
His career numbers are perhaps even more impressive. Downing finished his career with 101 goals, only the fourth Stag to eclipse 100 goals for a career. He finished his career with 141 points, which ranked him fifth all-time, as well as ranking 10th all-time with 40 assists.
Downing participated in the USILA Senior North-South All-Star game on Friday in Baltimore, the first Stag in three years to be selected to the squad.
