APD shuts out Tom Thumb

Matthew Covich had four hits including a triple and a double, and Jake Clarke had four hits with a triple as Auburn Police Department defeated Tom Thumb 9-0 in an Auburn Little League baseball game Wednesday.
Sean Nalon (triple) added two hits for APD while Dan DeFranco doubled and tripled.

For Tom Thumb, Nick Mitchell had two hits including a triple.

Clark had seven strikeouts in four innings for APD, and Jack Hogan picked up two punch-outs in two innings on the mound.

PONY LEAGUE

Auburn Kiwanis 11,

Michaels & Smolak 1

Kevin DiCola, Brandon Titus, Mike O'Hearn and Matt Jordan combined for 12 strikeouts and a two-hitter for Auburn.

DiCola led the offense with three hits, including a home run and a double, and Alex Wilczek had three hits.

Jason Strozzere doubled for Michaels & Smolak.

KIDS SANDLOT

Nucor 10, Rt. 31 Automotive 10

Jaylen Jones and Jordan Congdon led Nucor defensively while Meghan Burns was awarded the game ball.

For Rt. 31, Cole Ely and Sean Miller each picked up three hits and Jordan Kesinger played well at second base.

UNDER 13 SOCCER

Auburn 3, Chittenango 0

Emily Latanyshyn scored twice, and Brooke Whitman scored once to give the Arsenal a win.

Allie VanGiesen and Morgan Pflug each added an assist.

Connor Clifford had six saves in goal, and Emily Park had four.

Also playing well for the Arsenal were Rachel Barron, Lexi Dechick, Morgan Montgomery and Val Fox.
