Fundraiser to help Freedom Camp
Freedom Recreational Services is teaming up with Denny's in Auburn for a fundraiser to benefit the agency's Freedom Camp, a day camp for special needs children. From 4 to 10 p.m. tonight, Denny's will donate 10 percent of each purchase to the group.
Freedom Recreation Services is a small human service agency that provides education, recreational and social activities to children with special needs in Cayuga County.

Can drive and chicken dinners
The United Church of Auburn will host a can and bottle drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2 in the parking lot of the church, 77 Metcalf Drive, Auburn. Please only bring clean cans and bottles refundable for 5 cents.
Chicken barbecue dinners will be offered at the same time for $7.50.

Stella Maris center to host festival
The Stella Maris Retreat and Renewal Center will hosts its third annual Strawberry Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the center, 130 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles. The Strawberry Festival is a family event with live entertainment, artisans, cash and prize raffles, games and activities for children as well as strawberry treats.
Musical talent will include jazz bands from Skaneateles schools, Christian Brothers Academy, Tyburn Academy and will feature Dixieland Jazz by Soda Ash.
Children's activities include moonwalk, face painting, games and more.
Tickets are $7 for students/seniors, $10 for adults and $25 for a family pass. Proceeds benefit Stella Maris Capital Improvement Projects. This year's projects include renovations to the Passover House.

‘Dutch Oven Dave' to give seminar
At 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, and Saturday, June 24, “Dutch Oven Dave Horton” will give a seminar and hands-on cooking and tasting demonstration on Dutch Oven cooking for camping.
The demonstrations will be held at the Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center at the Fingerlakes Mall.
Port Byron Farmer's Market to open soon
The Port Byron farmer's market will open from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Schasel Park on Route 31, Port Byron. The market will continue to be open during those hours every Wednesday through Sept. 12. There will be no market on Wednesday, July 4.
The market features local vendors, wineries, weekly chicken barbecues, monthly entertainment and bake sales.

First United Methodist Church will hold a chicken barbecue at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at the church, 99 South St., Auburn. The barbecue will last until the food is gone.
