BALTIMORE - Matt Hickman fired in five goals to lead Salisbury to a 15-9 victory over Cortland for the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse championship on Sunday.
Eric Bishop totaled four goals and three assists while Greg Titus scored three goals as the Sea Gulls' attack unit combined to contribute 16 points. Matt Dasinger scored two goals while fellow midfielder Kylor Berkman dished off three assists for Salisbury (23-0), which completed the sixth unbeaten season in program history and captured its seventh national title.
Salisbury set a school record for wins in a season and broke its own NCAA Division III records for goals (417), assists (271) and points (688) in a season. The Sea Gulls established the previous marks of 409 goals, 270 assists and 680 total points while going 17-0 in 1995.
Adam Hyde scored four goals to lead Cortland (15-6).
